Inlays are made of ceramic or composite and are tooth coloured restorations that restore the damaged tooth. After the decayed tooth has been cleaned an impression is taken and the inlay is made at the laboratory. You have a temporary inlay fitted, which is also tooth coloured. Inlays are fitted within the confines of the tooth.
In some instances the tooth needs to be protected, especially where the remaining tooth is weak and here we may recommend an onlay which covers the entire biting surface of the tooth. Inlays look very natural and are ideal for long term tooth coloured restorations even for very deep cavities. Modern dental cements achieve very high bond strengths and are very predictable and reliable long term.
